Summer Essential: Topshop Glow Highlighter Review

Hiii,

The summer is fast approaching and I don't think there is a person in sight who is not anxiously waiting on the sun to finally make it's appearance. Personally, I'm not a fan of long, hot summer days as I absolutely hate lathering on greasy sun cream and feeling sticky, but sun protection is important especially for paler skin tones, like myself, and I can't deny that the sun makes me feel more positive.

Anyway, just because make up on a hot day tends to wear off pretty quickly, doesn't mean we shouldn't bother and I think I may have found my favourite product that will surely be on my cheeks every day of summer.

Topshop's Glow Highlighter in Polished.

I've had this highlighter for quite some time now and I still adore it just as much as I did when I first bought it. I believe its current retail price is £9 and you can find it in any Topshop store or on their online website.

When I bought this highlighter I was new to the whole contouring and highlighting scene and by chance just picked it up in store one day and thought I'd give it a go.  It is in cream form and you only need the tiniest bit because the saying 'a little goes a long way' is very relevant for this product.

As you can see I've not even started to reach the bottom of the tub yet and I'd say I've been using this product for about 6 months now. The highlighter is a pearl white colour with tones of purple and pink and looks amazing just above the cheekbone and on the brow bone. I've swatched it along my hand just so you can see how reflective of the sunlight it is. Perfect for summer!

I have tried other forms of highlighter since purchasing this product and I just can't seem to find anything that matches it's quality for the same price. Sometimes I even wear this highlighter alone just on my cheeks and I have had so many compliments about how radiant and healthy looking my skin appears.

If you give this product a go or already have it, please tell me what you think. I for sure have this product as a makeup bag staple now and will definitely be repurchasing once I run out.

I hope you have found this post useful if you are looking for a little summer pick me up.

For now,

Coco Chatter: Summer Holiday

Hey,

So summer is officially here for me, yipee!

All my exams are over and now I have so much free time on my hands I just don't know what to do with myself. It's such a dramatic change from having an excess of revision and work to complete to having nothing to do at all that I just can't cope with it. I like to be busy mostly all the time otherwise I get bored very quickly and as I left my job last month for the right reasons, I find myself just slobbing about the house and generally feeling sorry for myself.

These are the times when I wish I had a hobby like drawing or playing an instrument to keep me occupied but if I'm being completely honest I'm a rather uninteresting individual and I just don't have the talent nor the patience. However, I am trying to lose some weight and exercise more to get fitter and just maintain a bit of a more healthier lifestyle before I go on holiday and university. I'm also attempting to learn a new language over the summer, Mandarin Chinese, which is keeping me busy too.

What do you do to keep busy? Do you get bored quickly?

Thanks for listening to my boring rants and I hope you all have a fantastic summer with lots of fun activities. I'll be having a lot more new content coming so watch this space!

for now,

Cheryl's back and so is our fashion envy...

Yes, that's right, the absolute beauty that is Cheryl Cole has swan dived (literally) back into the popular culture a circle and the country is obsessed with her again. Not only is the Geordie girl a dazzler but also a major hot topic when it comes to stealing fashion advice in beauty, hair and makeup. Can you remember when every drugstore in the UK ran out of red hair dye all off the back of Cheryl's fling with red hair?

Cheryl's face may be back in all our magazines and on all the radio stations but I just can't seem to keep my jealous eyes off her fashion moves.

From wearing Monique Lhuiller on the red carpet of Cannes to the sexy gym customed gym wear in the 'Crazy Stupid Love' music video, it is clear to see why Cheryl as a fashion icon is idolised by women all around the country.

However, back when we seen Cheryl last her wardrobe seemed crammed with bright summer colours and risky clashes but now we are seeing a new, sophisticated side to her style. Wowing in white, Cheryl's statement colour of this summer is definitely making me consider risking the possible grass stains instead of reaching for neon.

Although Ms Cole does have the money to splash out on expensive high end designers, it is easy to recreate similar looks at home with affordable clothes and still look just as fashion forward. Here is a White Mesh Shift Dress from LoveClothing.com which has a clean and edgy finish with the use of mesh pannel along the top and the sleeves, a little bit like Cheryl wouldn't you think? Also the great thing about wearing white is the endless possibilities of coloured accessories (I'm working up a sweat just thinking about it!)

You can check out this dress here

I can't wait to see what else Cheryl has instore for us as she takes her seat on the X Factor panel once more and less importantly what Simon has to say about it!

Thanks for reading m'loves.

Rather Yellow

Outfit Challenge: Yellow

Hiii! I've decided to try and motivate myself to use this blog a little more that I should d0 a series of challenges based around fashion and beauty. So this week I've decided to look at all things yellow.

Yellow is a huge colour this season and the shops are packed with lemony treats. As it's summer we all want to be dressed in bright clothes and generally feel happy about everything because let's be real here, when is it likely that the sun will stay out for more than a few days (in the UK anyway, those of you in tropical countries, i envy you).

I've put together some of my favourites that I've seen either in shops or online and they're all so gorgeous. Thanks for reading and I hope I've helped showcase how beautiful yellow is this summer. Hope you all have a lovely time in the sun and remember to stay protected with plenty of sun protection!
  • Sunglasses: Neon Yellow Transparent Retro Sunglasses- River Island, £10.00. Found Here.
  • Top: Embellished Detail Shell Top-Topshop, £38.00. Found Here
  • Skirt: Yellow Embossed Pattern Pencil Skirt- River Island, £25.00. Found Here
  • Dress: Yellow Daisy Collar Shift Dress- River Island, £30.00. Found Here
  • Bag: Friis and Co Neon Yellow Bombay Bag, New Look, £39.99. Found Here
These looks are a little more on the expensive side but they're just so pretty and girly. Perfect for summer time! If you have a yellow outfit planned and find yourself struggling with what colour to pair it with, white is always the key colour to make you look innocent and fresh. You could also use brown's and blacks to create a more glamorous statement outfit.

My favourite yellow item I have found on my search has to be this beautiful Crochet Neck Midi Dress from AX Paris, £30.00 which can be found here. It's both fine detailing around the neck area just gives the vibrant yellow a touch of glamour and delicacy. I love it!
